DBE Settings

Explanation

Generally, the BDE settings should be correct based on the version of SMS installed. However, there are occasions where they can use some tweaking. Below are the settings that seem to work help when there seems to be some issues with SMS accessing the data or constant corruption.

Adjusting the BDE
  1. Access the Cyrious server
  2. Navigate to Cyrious>Common>BDE
  3. Double click the bdeadmin.exe
  4. Select the Configuration tab
  5. If theParadox level is not there:
    1. Open the Registry
    2. Navigate to HKey Local Machine>Software>Wow6432Node>Borland>Database Engine>Settings
    3. Delete the Settings key - this should allow you to access Paradox drivers

Note: When finished remember to click the Apply arrow

SMS 8.6 (8.90) BDE settings
  1. Expand the Configuration
  2. Expand the Drivers
  3. Expand the Native
  4. Select Paradox
  5. Ensure the Levels is set to 5
  6. Expand the System
  7. Select the INIT
  8. Set the AUTO ODBC to True
  9. Set MAXBUFSIZE to 5120
  10. Set MAXFILEHANDLES to 5120
  11. Set MEMSIZE to 5120
  12. Set MINBUFSIZE to 5120
  13. Click the Apply arrow
SMS 8.91 BDE settings
  1. Expand the Configuration
  2. Expand the Drivers
  3. Expand the Native
  4. Select Paradox
  5. Ensure the Levels is set to 7
  6. Expand the System
  7. Select the INIT
  8. Set the AUTO ODBC to True
  9. Set MAXBUFSIZE to 5120
  10. Set MAXFILEHANDLES to 5120
  11. Set MEMSIZE to 5120
  12. Set MINBUFSIZE to 5120
  13. Click the Apply arrow
